As an art dealer, Gordian Weber specializes in important artworks from Antiquity. The prime focus is on the ancient Mediterranean cultures; its range includes Egyptian, Greek and Roman art as well as works from Persia and ancient Yemen.
The gallery is headed by second-generation art dealer Gordian Weber, a trained art historian and archaeologist. He is active both inside and outside Germany as an officially appointed expert for the Cologne Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Gordian Weber is a Board member of the International Association of Dealers in Ancient Art (IADAA) and a member of the Bundesverband des Deutschen Kunst- und Antiquitätenhandels (BDKA).
Alongside high demands in terms of the quality of an object, for Gordian Weber the timelessness of an artwork and its exemplary character are decisive. This approach manifests itself in initiatives including crossover projects with contemporary galleries, such as the exhibition »... As time goes by« (2003/2004) with Leo Koenig Inc. in New York and the joint presence at Art Cologne 2004 with Michael Werner Gallery and in September 2008 with the Jablonka Galerie, Berlin, at the Hamburg Fine Art Fair in the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Hamburg.
Gordian Weber offers collectors and museums outstanding pieces. The collection history of an object also fascinates the passionate art dealer; in recent years he has been able to acquire ancient artworks from the collections of André Derain, Jacob Epstein, Paul de Givenchy, Barbier-Mueller, David Sylvester and Charles Gillet and pass them on to new generations of art enthusiasts.
